To the most dear and living memory of/DAVID MASON MacFARLANE/born 22nd November 1862, died 7th January 1930/M.D., B.Ch. Edinburgh C.M.C., C.B.E., T.D. the 1914 Star/doctor 1885-1907, soldier 1907-1919, farmer 1920-1930/Colonel commanding the 4th Seaforth Highldrs (T.A.) in the Great War/Member of the King's Body Guard of Scotland, Royal Archers.
He gave ungrudgingly/for king and country/and throughout his life, he won and kept, the deep love/of men, women, and little children.
"The soul unbroken though the body tires/these are the things this weary world requires."
Also of/MARY BLANCHE, beloved wife of the above/born 5th September 1865, died 21st August 1951.
"And with the morn, these angel-faces smile."
In most proud and tender memory of/CARLYON WILL MASON MacFARLANE/Captain 7th Queens Own Hussars and attached Imperial Camel Corps/born 17th Jan. 1891, killed in action in the Western Desert Egypt 5th Sep. 1916/He rests at Minia Egypt, in the British War Cemetery on the Nile/younger son of DAVID MASON MacFARLANE and BLANCHE (ANSTIE) his wife.
"Glad did I live and gladly die, and I laid me down with a will."
