John & Janet (Cameron) McDonald & family.

In memory/of/JANET CAMERON/beloved wife of JOHN McDONALD/Rowan Cottage, Drynie Park/born Han 12 1835,died May 7 1916/also their children ANNIE & KENNETH/who died in infancy/also the above/JOHN McDONALD/died Feb 25 1926/and their son/KENNETH JOHN/died Dec 4 1924/also their elder daughter/CATHERINE/who died 9 March 1955/aged 84 years.

I am curious if John and Janet had a son who was a member of the Gordon Highlanders in World War I. I have recently acquired two Soldier's Pay Books for a G. L. McDonald of the Gordon Highlanders and in the back of one it lists John McDonald, Rowan Cottage, Dulnain Bridge, Grantown-on-Spey. I would like to learn more about G. L. McDonald and would appreciate any information you may be able to provide.
