GCSstS. etc./one of the founders of modern geology Son of KENNETH MURCHISON of Tarradale/grandson of RODERICK MACKENZIE of Fairburn./Born at Tarradale Feb. 19 1792/died in London Oct 22 1871./Served in the 36th Regiment of Foot and 6th Inniskilling Dragoons./Was present at Roleia Vimiera, carrying the colours of the regiment./And Corunna. Also at the siege of Cadiz.



Generous, chivalrous, magnanimous, in duty fearless, a faithful perfect friend./His heart ever remained true to the land of his forefathers.
