In memory of/ALEXANDER CLARK/late master of the smack Fanie[?]/who during a long period/of 58 years/which he passed in the navy/and merchant service/maintained the character of a brave and skilled seaman/and an upright man/and closed an [.....?] life/in the bosom of his family/and in the full and well grouded/hope/of a better world/through the merits/of Christ Jesus/on the 23rd of December 1836/aged 73 years/also/in memory of his wife ELIZABETH TULLOH/who [.....?] great strength of mind/to a warm heart/and an [.....?] temper/fulfilled in an examplary manner/the duties of wife and mother/and daughter/happy in the exercise of the same hope from which her husband had derived/his comfort/on the 13th day of October 1841/aged 68.
