Hugh & Margaret (Mackenzie) Watson, & s. Hugh.

In loving memory of/HUGH WATSON/of Allerton, Cromarty/died 13th Sep. 1926, aged 78/his wife/MARGARET MACKENZIE/died 10th Nov. 1944, aged 74/and their grandson/HUGH WATSON/accidentally killed/28th July 1944, aged 14.

Hugh Watson, b. abt. 1848, was the son of John Watson and Catherine Mustard, b. 1812 from Rosemarkie. He farmed at Balmungie with his mother Catherine Watson until at least 1891 and, when married, at Allerton. Hugh and Margaret had at least two children John Watson, b. 1893 and William Watson, b. 1895 in Cromarty. I don't know if either were the parent of grandson Hugh. There could have been more children after the 1901 Census, my only source of information.

Hugh Watson who was killed at Allerton Farm was my Godmother's son. Her name was Gretta Watson.
