John C. Finlayson

In memory/of/JOHN C. FINLAYSON/shoemaker, Munlochy/who died 6th March 1902/aged 57.

Son of Alexander & Betsy (nee Gray) Finlayson - two of John's 4 sons died in WW1 - they were Gibson and David - both won the MC for valour. His wife is buried in Forres I believe but one of his daughters is buried alongside him - she had gone to South Africa to work as a teacher, came back in the 1940s or 50s and reclaimed the family home, Umballa Cottage
