Lewis Russell.

In memory/of/LEWIS RUSSELL/born at Cromdale/28th April 1796/died at Conon/18 April 1878/he was connected with the/County of Ross for half a /century as road survetor/and inspector of Highland Roads and Briodges./His ability, industry, and/uprightness of character/won the entire confidence/of his employers and/in social life the esteem of/a large circle of friends.

Lewis Russell was my husbands' great great aunts' father her name being Jessie Russell, she married John Mackay also a road surveyor in Tain.
