George & Grace (Grant) Hood & children.

Sacred/to/the memory of/GEORGE HOOD/Guard Highland Railway/who by the effects of an accident/died on the 23 March 1883/aged 47 years/greatly lamented by his wife/and family and many others/and of the children/GEORGE aged 4 years/HELEN JANE aged 3 years/WILLIAM aged 2 years/and his wife/GRACE GRANT/who died at Inverness/27 Apr 1902 aged 62 years.

George was my great grandfather, son of John Hood, Tenant farmer, Hopefield, Balmungie, Rosemarkie and of Margaret Mackenzie, his spouse, was born on 28th April 1836. He was one of 13 children all born at Hopefield. He married Grace Grant on 1st August 1862 at Dreggie, Inverallan and they had 9 children, John (my grandfather), Margaret, Duncan. Betsy, Isabella, Grace, George, Ellen Jane and William. Duncan and Betsy also died in infancy..
