In loving memory of/a dear husband & father/THOMAS JOHN MACLEAN/who died at Oakfield/on 1st November 1970, aged 49 years.

The web site above has gone now. Essentially Thomas (better known as John) was in military intelligence from 1940, and had a fascinating career which included single-handedly capturing the head of the Gestapo in Norway in 1945. He remained in MI6 until 1959 but records of what he got up to after 1948 have been destroyed.
