James & Alexandrina (Houston) Smith .

Sacred to the memory of/the Rev. JAMES SMITH M.A.,/Minister of Avoch 1787 - 1830,/ whose consistent character, fidelity/as a Christian Minister, eminent/attainments as a scholar, extensive/information and estimable qualities as/a friend, gained and secured the respect/and esteem of parishioners, and/whose amiable domestic virtues tenderly/endeared him to his familt circle. /He died 9th Dec. 1830, aged 72;/also his wife/ALEXANDRINA HOUSTON,/daughter of/ALEXANDER HOUSTON, Provost of Fortrose./She died 2nd July 1845, aged 86 years.

Sounds like he a fine testimony in The Lord's service . His son I understand from the IGI was Alexander Smith b.17 Dec 1797 & ch. 3 Jan 1798 in Avoch, just wonder what became of him?

Keep up the good work, I think photography definitely perserves the heritage & memory of these fine folk as well as contributes to genealogy.
