Comments

The inscription on this stone was transcribed by Alexander Finlay Macdonald, a native of Kintail, who returned from Utah in 1877 to interview his kin. From a copy of his notes - Capt. John Stewart, Rothsay (sic), drowned 8 Oct 1805 aged 46 years, his widow Christian Clark.
Further support for place name of Rothesay is an IGI extract of Marriage for John Stewart to Christian Clark on 1 March 1792 Rothesay, Bute, Scotland.
