Sacred/to the memory of/Serg. PETER MURRAY/died 22 January 1873 aged 85 years/also his wife/MARY MACDONALD/died 1st February 1869/aged 67 years/and their two sons/DONALD/died 27th January 1866/aged 35 years/GEORGE/died at Lucknow/25th May 1873 aged 37 years.



Erected by their son/ALEXANDER MURRAY.



[RHS] in/loving memory of/PETER MURRAY/died at Bonar Bridge Station/7th November 1874/aged 8 years/and of GEORGE MURRAY/Arts student, Aberdeen/died at Elgin/20th December 1895/aged 18 years/sons of the said/ALEXANDER MURRAY/also of his son/DONALD MURRAY F.E.I.S/died at Elgin/16th November 1952/aged 80 years.

Seaforth Hgr/died of wounds received in action 19th Sept 1917/aged 38 years/interred in Potijze/near Ypres/and of the foresaid/ALEXANDER MURRAY/traffic agent/died at Elgin 25th March 1919/aged 78 years/his beloved wife/CATHERINE ROBERTSON/died at Elgin 1st Feb. 1928, aged 87 years.



[rear] in loving memory of/ANNIE STEWART MURRAY/LL.A., B.A., J.P/who died at Elgin/13th March 1953/aged 84 years/daughter of the said/ALEXANDER MURRAY/and of his son/ALEXANDER ROBERTSON MURRAY/K.G/I.E., C.B.E./who died at High Wycombe/19th March 1956/aged 83 years/and of his grandson/Capt. A. GRANT MURRAY/5th Seaforth Highlanders/killed in action at Caen/Aug. 1944 aged 27.
