No doubt he would have known my forebear John Macleod who was also a catechist and a teacher in Coigach. He died in 1855 and is buried at Badenscallie but no trace of a stone.

I have a copy of the Memorial Inscriptions for Badenscallie from Ullapool Museum. The remainder of this inscription reads: 'Much honoured and esteemed for his high Christian principle and singular honesty of character for the wisdom and prudence faithfulness and zeal. Humility and selflessness with which he discharged the arduous and sacred duties of his office'.
It also confirms he died 'in the 70 year of his age'.

Thank you Sheila, that is very much appreciated. I have not to make a personal visit to the site.
