In.loving memory/of our mother/CATHERINE MACKINTOSH/wife of WILLIAM JOHNSTONE/who departed this life/10th Nov 1883/aged 67 years/also their sons/WILLIAM who was drowned/off Montrose 12th Aug 1866/aged 20 years/DUNCAN who died/at DUNEDIN New Zealand/on 21st Aug 1879/aged 23 years/and of their two children/who died in infancy/her husband/WILLIAM JOHNSTONE/who died 17th May 1898/aged 86 years.
