Rev. George Moir was the brother of my GGGrandfather Alexander who emigrated to Canada in 1856. Thanks for the picture and transcription.

Hi Scott - Where was George & Alexander Moir born as I tried searching for them on the usual genealogy websites and I didn't find anything worth mentioning?
There were only 2 Alexander Moir's bc. 1829 & bc. 1835 in Scotland listed in the 1881 Canadian Census - Ontario, who were living in Middlesex & Wellington Counties respectively.
I also searched for info about Elspeth Ironside but I didn't find anything.
I am a descendant of John More (1795-1882) & Catharine/Katharine (1789-1849) from Avoch, Ross-shire (now ROC) who came to Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada in about 1848.

Gerald - George and Alexander were born in the Parish of Tarves in Aberdeenshire. George is the only one that moved to Avoch.
I haven't been able to locate their birth records so had to use census records, marriage/death records, etc. The Alexander b. 1835 that you mention found in Wellington County is my gggrandfather mentioned above. He later moved north to District of Parry Sound.
