I think the full transcript of this stone should read:
"In loving memory

died 20th July 1864
---------------------------

Mr John Munro
late painter Invergordon who departed this life

Also to the memory of their mother
Catherine McKenzie,
who died 17th Febry 1854 aged 75 years
and Mr Donald Munro
their father, late merchant, Tullich,
who died 26th Novr 1846
aged 81 years"

Baillie Chisholm Munro was the son of Kilmuir Easter cartwright Donald Munro and Ann Chisholm, with Donald being the son of Donald Munro the merchant and Catherine McKenzie whose names appear on the lower inscription. Baillie Chisholm Munro died of tuberculosis at Cawdor Village, Nairn in 1864 aged 21, and the upper inscription would have been added at that time. Donald the merchant and Catherine McKenzie had eleven children baptised at Kilmuir Easter between 1791 and 1809, and I believe Donald married two ladies of the same name, with the second likely to have been the 1778 Kilmuir Easter daughter of David McKenzie and Christian Ross.

There are three obscure connections between this Munro family and that of William Munro, tacksman of Delny, who died on 8 March 1778, and was buried at Alness along with other members of his family - William, his first wife Margaret nee Spens who died 1750, and their son Alexander who died in 1777, are all recorded as being buried at stone 264, Alness Old Churchyard - the graves may no longer exist, but if anyone has records of inscriptions for them, or has any information at all on these people I'd love to hear from them.

Another son of William's from a later marriage was James Munro, tacksman of Delny, who died at Knockbain in 1837.

I would like to add some corrections to my earlier comments on this memorial. Closer inspection of this stone places Catherine McKenzie's year of death as 1834, rather than 1854. Donald Munro, merchant of Tullich, did not have two marriages, although Catherine McKenzie did, firstly to Donald Munro of Polnicol, and secondly to Donald Munro, merchant of Tullich, as recorded above.
