Here lys the remains of/Provost ALEXANDER/HOUSTOUN/of this Burgh who lived esteemed and/died regreted October/the 2d 1767 aged 54/years.

Here also is interred Mrs JANET RAY, relict of the said Provost ALEXr HOUSTOUN, a woman of unaffected piety and benevolence, an affectionate parent and faithful friend, she died 27th March 1795, aged 76.**
