My great granduncle. I am descended from his brother Colin who left for the USA around 1890 (after training as a printer's apprentice in Dingwall, Colin worked for the Denver Post and founded the Minidoka County News in Idaho). In 1923 Norman wrote the fully-illustrated Romance of a Royal Burgh: Dingwall's Story of a Thousand Years, a copy of which can be found in the Highland Heritage Centre in Inverness. A memorial to his parents (Angus and Christina) is in the St Clements churchyard in Dingwall and I'm in debt to the contributors to this website who have photographed these and other family memorials.
