Walter & Agnes (Howatson) Mundell, d. Jean.

In loving memory of/WALTER MUNDELL/Moy/who died at Carskeoch/Patna, Ayrshire/21st April 1899/aged 39 years/and his beloved wife/AGNES HOWATSON/who died/at the Garden House/Strathpeffer/7th July 1946/in her 90th year/and their beloved daughter/JEAN/died 3rd March 1965.

Comments

Walter Mundell of Moy was son of George Mundell (1821-23 Feb. 1872, died in Wick), who was elder brother of Walter Grieve Mundell [see 12427]. Walter of Moy's wife Agnes was sister of Jessie Howatson, who was married to Walter Grieve Mundell.

Put more briefly Jessie and Agnes Howatson were sisters, and Walter Grieve Mundell was uncle to Walter Mundell of Moy as well as brother-in-law. (Jessie Howatson, widow of Walter Grieve Mundell and most of the family emigrated to Canada in 1908. She died at Calgary Alberta on 26th September 1910).

Picture no 12119 refers George (no date of death; he was born 1886 and died in 1949), one of the four children of Walter and Agnes Mundell of Moy. George married Mary Florence McIver, who died 24th Nov 1978 aged 91. The three sons of George and Mary F are all on that memorial inscription; Duncan and George were killed in the 2nd World War, and Walter Ivor Mundell died in 1973.
