James & Jannet McCallum

Erected/to the memory of/JAMES McCALLUM who died at/Conon Village 25 February 1849/aged 75 years/and his wife/JANNET McCALLUM who died/16th February 1855/aged 77 years.

This gravestone marks the burial place of two of my wife's (Brenda Gatman (nee Munro) ancestors. James and Jannet McCallum are her GGG - Grandparents. One of their daughters, Jane McCallum (1816-1888) married John Munro (1794-1873) and they had a son, William Munro (1846-also died 1888) who emigrated in New Zealand in about 1880/81 with his wife, Agnes (1851-1931). They were the parents of my wife's grandfather, William Andrew Munro, born in New Zealand 1885, died 1966. Peter McCallum (1805-1867) appears to have been their second son.
