Today is the birthday of Jamima Jane Gray (1890-1982) whose grave lies within this burial ground. I am forever be indebted to her for introducing me to the breathtaking beauty and culture of Scotland's Highlands and Islands. A lady short in stature but blessed with a huge heart and a long life.
Aunt Jane (affectionately known in our family as Lady Jane Gray) was for many years a school inspector for Ross & Cromarty, in the days when getting from A to B was in a real challenge in those parts, and often involved much walking to remote communities that hadn't yet been connected to civilisation by a tarmacadam road. Her family home was in nearby Culbokie/Duncanston.
