Donald Jack.

Ercted/by/JAMES JACK/and MARGARET BROTCHIE/in memory of/their beloved/deeply lamented/son/Capt. DONALD JACK/who lost his life/in a boat near Dingwall canal/9th April 1855/aged 20 years.

A bitter cup altho' this be/'tis mingled by thy skill/and from thy holy hand I take/and drink it at thy will./But suffer, Lord, my bleeding heart/to shed a bitter tear/for one who was so much beloved/my son, my son so dear/Who go to sea in ships and in/great waters trading be/within the deep these men God's works/and his great wonders see./For he commands forth in haste/the stormy tempest flies/which makes the sea with rolling waves/aloft to swell I rise.

"I shall go to him but he/shall not return to me."
