In loving memory of/JEANNIE SUTHERLAND/wife of/JOHN URQUHART/Loans of Tullich, Fearn/died 3rd July 1936/and of/MARY SUTHERLAND/died 15th March 1958.

This is my grandmother (Dads mother) Dad is Donald Hugh Urquhart. My grandmother was called Jeannie but she was christened Jane Mary Sutherland born 28 December 1882 in Castlebay Barra Outer Hebrides during my great grandfathers David Sutherlands time there as a Police constable. He later came to Hilton and ran the Hilton pub. My grandmother married John Urquhart a crofter at The Loans. He was killed by the claypit near Tullich and a couple of years later she died of cancer so all three children were sent out to New Zealand to live with two of her sisters, one of whom was the Mary named on the stone who went back to Hilton in the 1950s but died of cancer on the ship on the way home.
