To the glory of God/and in loving memory of/HUGH JOHN DUFF/major of the Lovat Scouts/killed in France 6th Sept. 1918/when commanding the 1st King's/(Liverpool) Regt. - aged 36 years.
Awarded Ditinguished Service Order/Military Cross & Mentioned in Despatches.
Buried in the Communal Cemetery of Beaumetz-les-Cambrai.
