Donald Macleod.
Sacred to the memory of/DONALD MACLEOD, Esquire of Geanies/lineal representative of the MACLEODS of Assynt and the last laird of Geanies bearing his name/the estate having been owned by the family for three generations/He was born 8th July 1745 and died on the 21st January 1834 in his 89th year. He held the office of Sheriff Depute of/the counties of Ross and Cromarty from 1795 to 1833.
Universally venerated as a firm and impartial judge and magistrate an accomplished and genial member of society/and a kind and considerate landolrd and fried./The removal of this last and long resident haed of the family was deplored not only by a/wide circle of loving relatives and friends but by all classes of the community.
Also to the memory of his wife/MARGARET/CRAUFORD/daughter of JAMES CRAUFORD esq. merchant Rotterdam, of the family of CRAUFORD of Auchenames.
This lady to whom he was united in 1769, died on the 30th July 1787 in the 37th year of her life/having been as recorded by her bereaved husband, a most faithful, dutiful and attentive wife/a tenderly affectionate relative and a sincerely attached friend.
Also to the memory of/JAMES CRAUFORD MACLEOD Esq./their second son and eldest surviving son who in the year 1821, after a short illness, died at Geanies inthe 47th year of hsi age/tenderly loved and lamented by surrounding relatives and friends/his remains were interred here by his aged father, of whose family numbering 12 sons and daughters/nearly all of whom have now departed this life/He alone was permitted to find a grave in this the paternal tomb.
This tablet is erected by/CATHERINE/the latest born and sole surviving of Mr Macleod's twelve children
