Thomas and Barbara Mackenzie were my 3xgreat, grandparents. Thomas was born in 1778 at Craigton, Castle Craig where his father and grandfather had been tacksmen. For many years Thomas was the miller at Conon Mains near Dingwall. Thomas died at “Smithfield” Ferintosh in 1855. Barbara was member of the Clark family and was born in 1793 at Bog of Findon. She died in 1872 at Ferintosh. Thomas and Barbara had eight children, three of whom were buried in the Black Isle. Son James is buried in the adjoining grave (image 1750). Their youngest daughter, also called Barbara, was buried at Urquhart Old (image 3314) with her husband Lewis Macdonald. Another daughter Katherine is commemorated alongside Barbara senior at the Clark family lair at Urquhart Old (image 3537). Thomas’s brother William and his wife Janet are also buried in Cullicudden Old (image 16959).
