James & Jean (Stewart) Hosack. John Elder.

** Here lies the body of JAMES HOSACK, late tacksman in Muirhead, who departed this life May 1777, aged 67 years;allso JEAN STEWART, his spouse, who died Febry 1782, aged 68 yrs JH + JS; 1776, JOHN ELDER, son to ALEXr ELDER, gardiner in Kilcoie, heir of this stone. Now possessed by JOHN ELDER, farmer in Croslet, who died in the year-----; and MARGARET ELDER, his spouse, who died in the year 1803, aged 56.**

I don't know who James Hosack or Jean Stewart were, how related to John and Margaret Elder- but I do believe this is same John Elder who re- married to Jane Aird about 1805 and had eight children with her. I am just working on this Elder genealogy now and trying to make sense of it all. I think Margaret was age 36 when she died in 1803, not 56. It appears Margaret and John had six Elder children. I welcome contact with anyone researching same families.
