In memory/of/LEWIS MACDONALD/contractor, Dingwall/born 13th April 1820/died 10th April 1885/and his wife/BARBARA MARY MACKENZIE/born 26th June 1834/died 2nd December 1916/and their son/THOMAS MACDONALD/M.B. C.M. (Edin)/Beauly/born 18th October 1862/died 21st May 1928.

This is the grave of my Great, Great, Great Aunt. Barbara was the younger sister my my Great, Great Grandfather Charles Mackenzie. Charles was born at Conon Bridge in 1823 and died in Sunderland in 1880. He was a schoolteacher. There was also a middle brother Thomas (dates of birth/death unknown). Their father, also called Thomas, was either a farmer or a miller, again dates unknown.
Lewis and Barbara Macdonald had three children, Thomas (mentioned on this gravestone b.1862), Barbara (b.1865) and William (b.1868).
Daughter Barbara was married to James Fraser (b.1855). They had eight children - Jessie (b.1867), Catherine (b.1890), James(b.1891), Lewis(b.1893), Barbara(b.1895), John(b.1896), William(b.1899) and Robert(b.1900).
