James & Mary (Ross) Mackay.
In memory/of/JAMES MACKAY/farmer, Drummond, Stratherrick/born at Clair in 1816/died at Drummond, 7th August 1881/and his beloved wife/MARY ROSS/born at Drumore in 1815/died at Drummond 18th February 1890.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."

James and Mary are also my great great grand parents. Their son Murdo (my great grandfather) had a butchers shop in Dingwall. His son Simon Mackay, was my grandfather.

During the 1860s they left the farm in Clare. (Ruins are still up there in the Clare forestry plantation 3 miles behind Evanton). They moved to a farm at Easter Drummond near White Bridge at south end of Loch Ness. Anyone interested have plenty of details
