Sacred to the memory of/JAMES BRODIE SMITH M.M./Student of Law, Edinburgh,//hose promising talents, pious principles/and practice, virtuous and prudent conduct,/amiable and obliging disposition with his/pleasing and dignified manners procured/him the love and esteem of his friends/and the respect of all his acquaintance;/ he died Avoch Manse 27th Oct. 1813 /n the 21st year of his age./ As a devout Christian, dutiful son,/ a most affectionate brother, /he left impressions on the hearts of his/ parents and family which the course of time may alleviate but cannot possibly efface/ while memory retains her power; **and of these other children of JAMES SMITH, Minister, Avoch viz, ALEXANDER, who died Jan. 31st 1798; PENUEL MARGARET, who died May 5th 1801.**
