He was Pipe Major in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders from 1938 till 1948. In 1960 he became P/M of the 257 General Hospital RAMC; till what year was he their P/M?
Added by Aad Boode on 15 June 2016.
Ask his son or one of his daughters when he was born. I think around 1905.
Are you the same Bill Wright who went to Oz? I think he left about late 60's.

Added by Philip Henderson on 18 February 2017.
Yes I am the Bill Wright who went to Australia in 1966
Added by Bill Wright on 22 July 2017.
Hi, Aad. Just a nitpicking point here. If my memory serves (and it may not), the RAMC unit in question was the 57th General Hospital until the TA was reorganized in 1967, at which point it became the 257th General Hospital within the T&AVR. Bob Hill was P/M until at least the late 1960s, but I'm afraid I don't know just when he returned to Scotland. Anyway, I hope this helps a little.

Hi Phil, that is correct. I only recently found that out. I now have Robert Henry Hill listed as P/M of 57 (Middlesex) General Hospital 1960-1967 and of 257 (Eastern) General Hospital 1967-1968; he was succeeded by Gordon K. Speirs 1968-1969.

Robert Hill led Tullylagan Pipe Band, Co.Trrone, Northern Ireland to several North of Ireland Bands Association senior wins in Belfast in the 1930's

My father passed away recently and I found some photos of the 57th (Middlesex) General Hospital Pipe Band. Clearly showing P.M Robert Hill. My Dad, Fraser Diesch, was in the band.
