Kenneth MacKenzie born May 26, 1808, died March 24, 1890. Married March 9, 1841 Alexandrina Morrison. Kenneth was son of Kelly Fisher and Donald MacKenzie, son of Colin MacKenzie 1st of Badluachrach and Mary MacKenzie who was daughter of William MacKenzie of Achilty and Kinnahaird. Colin MacKenzie 1st of Badluachrach was son of Alexander MacKenzie 3rd of Ballone and Barbara MacKenzie, daughter of Kenneth Mor MacKenzie 1st of Dundonnel. Note- Colin MacKenzie is my 5th Great Grand Father and Alexander MacKenzie 3rd of Ballone is my 6th GGgrandfather. My name is Isobel Rose (MacKenzie)Cawthorne, Alberta, Canada.

I should have explained that Colin MacKenzie 1st of Badluachrach and Mary MacKenzie had 3 sons (1) Kenneth MacKenzie 2nd of Badluachrack who married Elizabeth MacKenzie had a son Donald MacKenzie who married Sarah/Martha Macleod. Donald and Sarah are my 3rd Great Grand Parents.
(2) Alexander who married Barbara MacLean
(3) Donald who married Kelly Fisher. Their son Kenneth married Alexandrina Morrison, picture #3862

Isobel - I have a Barbara Maclean born in Badluarach in 1856 who was a sister of Thomas my great grandfather, but I think she may be a younger generation? What do you think?

Iain - If Barbara MacLean was born in 1856 she could not possibly be the wife of Alexander MacKenzie, son of Colin MacKenzie 1st of Badluachrach. Colin was born about 1727 (age given as a mere lad of 19 in the write up written in the London Evening Post, dated Nov. 8, 1746)died 1772. Colin's 2nd son Alexander who married a Barbara MacLean would have been born in early 1750

Iain - My 1st Greatgrandmother Margaret Jane Little decends from the MacLean MacDonald line. The date of Barbara born 1856 and her brother Thomas is in the same time frame of the MacLean's I have on file.If you have MacDonald's in your tree email me at ircjac@telus.net Isobel Rose (MacKenzie) Cawthorne

Some research by my Dad, part-time author and Highlands history enthusiast Donald Shaw, into my family tree. (For family tree purposes he's my step-Dad, but that's just a technicality!)

I am descended from Isobel, daughter of Alexander Mackenzie, fourth of Ballone, whose brother Colin was out for the Jacobites and taken prisoner during the Battle of Littleferry at Dunrobin Castle on 15 April 1746. His brother-in-law Roderick was also captured that day. Colin Mackenzie's grandson Kenneth, who is remembered on the headstone shown, was factor for the Duke and Duchess of Sutherland on their Coigach estate in the 19th century, and lived at Morefield Cottage, overlooking Ullapool. He was the estate factor from 1832 to 1883, spanning three generations of the Hay-Mackenzie / Cromartie / Sutherland family. His son Hay was agent for the National Bank in Ullapool until he retired in 1912. Hay's grandson, John David Hay Mackenzie (known as Iain), died as recently as 2019, the fifth generation in a line of Mackenzies going back to the Battle of Littleferry in 1746. I am the eighth generation following the fourth Mackenzie of Ballone, via his daughter Isobel Stronach, then Margaret Mackenzie, Margaret Macleay, Catherine MacLean, Isabella Macrae, my grandfather Donald Mackenzie and my father Ewen Mackenzie.

Bit of an error in my last comment, sorry!

Last bit of text should read as follows:

"I am the ninth generation following the fourth Mackenzie of Ballone, via his daughter Isobel Stronach, then Margaret Mackenzie, Margaret Macleay, Isabella MacLean, Catherine Macrae, Isabella Mackenzie, my grandfather Donald Mackenzie and my father Ewen Mackenzie.
